A High End Exerciser with Useful Features

The Schwinn 131 upright exercise bike delivers comfort, excellent electronics and affordability.  It features extra wide ergonomic pedals for convenient biking and integrated fan to enhance comfort during exercise.  The electronic system of this bike allows for greater ease of use.  Although it is one of the most expensive model of Schwinn, the 131 model is still very affordable compared to other upright exercise bikes in its class.

The Schwinn 131 can offer 20 different workout settings.  It has three special workout programs specifically targeted for your heart rate, a fitness test, custom workout, 10 profile courses, BMI, and calorie burning monitor.  You can also create your own workout program because the unit allows for manual set-up.

This upright exercise bike from Schwinn has 16 resistance levels.  The smooth resistance will give you a good feel of authentic riding which generally eliminates monotony and boring exercises on an upright bike.  In fact, this unit automatically adjusts the resistance level as you step up your pedaling.  The best thing is that you will seldom hear a squeak as the resistance increases.  This exercise bike is one of the most silent exercise equipments that you can ever have.

The Schwinn 131 upright exercise bike also features a fully adjustable handlebar so you can have an easier time working out. The handlebar is equipped with integrated grip heart sensor monitor.  This model is also capable of fore and aft seat adjustment which allows greater positional flexibility during your workout.

Areas that Needs Improvement

With its highly useful features and functionalities, there are some aspects of the Schwinn 131 bike that need some improvement.  First, the built-in saddle seat is quite hard so you should consider purchasing and extra seat padding to enhance comfort.

There are instances that the transitional resistance level may not match the settings that you programmed.  There is no big worry though because the resistance will adjust automatically at the next interval.  But this can be a source of some annoyance because you may get some incorrect readings of your performance.

Schwinn must also improve the plastic stand of the machine.  The material is not very durable so you must refrain from stepping on it or putting too much weight on the stand.  It could break easily.

The fan is a great addition to enhance comfort during your training.  However, the performance of the integrated fan is so-so and does not produce much air.  You can request a replacement if you encounter trouble with the fan and the customer service of Schwinn will not disappoint you.  But the fact that the fan produces minimum air is already a big letdown.

If you stand above 6 feet in height, you may encounter some adjustment problems with the seat and handlebar.  There are wider adjustment options but you will probably still bump the handlebar with your knees.

Obviously, the great features and functionalities of Schwinn 131 upright exercise bike outweigh the limitations of the equipment.  You can still get superior performance and value from this exercise machine.
